View mapLeaving from our Booking Office at 794 Colombo Street, corner of Oxford Terrace and Colombo Street, opposite Victoria Square, Waka on Avon offers immersive cultural experiences on the Ōtākaro Avon River. Guests can choose from two waka paddling tours, Manaaki 75 Minute Tour and Kaitiaki 45 Minute Tour, or the Te Ara Cultural Guided Walk. Each experience provides a unique opportunity to connect with the river and its history. The waka journeys offer a hands-on cultural experience paddling a handcrafted waka while learning about the significance of waka in Māori culture. Along the way, guests hear stories of Canterbury’s Ngāi Tahu iwi and the early European settlers, highlighting the shared history and development of Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Cancellations that are made 24 hours prior to a booking will not be charged. Cancellations or no shows within 1 hour of a booking will be charged 100% of the total cost of the booking.
Tours may be cancelled by Waka on Avon due to wind speeds or rainfall or minimum numbers not being reached.
